or two months! The little lady continues to grow, and is such a joy to have around. Emmerson smiles at us, and has begun cooing more and more. She continues to love to snuggle, but is also content watching the world from one of her perches (and also staying out of the way of her big brother). Speaking of him, Macallister has taken a new interest in talking to Emmerson, imitating the way we speak to her and bringing smiles to her face. Emme continues to have red hair and bright blue eyes, and likes to give her mom the necessary sleep by dozing for up to 6 hours at night. Following in her brother’s footsteps, she has become a little yogi and attends Waldorf with Macs as well.
Emmerson had her 2 month check up on her 8 week birthday, and her stats are as follows: weight is 11 pounds 5 ounces (50-75th percentile); height is 23.5 inches (90th percentile); and head is 39.5 centimeters (75th percentile). She looks quite dainty in person with her fine features, but is actually growing nicely.
She had a nice photo shoot with her bunny recently:

Macallister was incredibly excited to have the Easter Bunny visit his house - he woke up talking about the ‘Hop Hop’ and the eggs. In lieu of hiding eggs, Macs chose to dump the basket-full all over the floor, over and over, allowing his daddy and mommy to pick them up each time.
Emmerson received some baby appropriate toys and books, but much more exciting was the road rug and cars Macallister received.

And, the favorite is the tractor:

Macallister is growing and changing so much - it’s sort of amazing how big he seems now that we have a real little one around. His vocabulary and understanding continue to amaze us, and he learns new words every day (which probably means we need to start watching what we say). Macs also loves to speak in his own language, spewing off paragraphs at a time at us, and Pinot. Macallister is in love with Emmerson, and loves to hold her, pat her back to make her burp, read stories with her and rock her in her various contraptions. Running around is still a favorite, and now that it’s nicer, he loves to walk his wagon around outside, collecting rocks, and taking a spin in his tree swing. Macallister sings, dances and reads. He’s becoming more and more independent and opinionated. On a regular basis, Macs takes us on hippo hunts, his favorite animal.
Our photo shoot with giraffe was a little more difficult as he didn’t want to hold still.

And, with that, the photo shoot is seemingly over:

So, daddy hops in to show him how it’s done:

…otherwise known as 1 month. Our little lady continues to grow, becoming more and more alert, tracking us, starting to smile and coo and do all the lovely things little babies do. Emmerson is filling out a bit, and is no longer as curled up. She still loves to be held and snuggled, which is fine by us. Macallister still loves to hold her, and make sure she’s ok (especially when she’s sleeping, which generally results in her no longer sleeping).
4 weeks with fuzzy bunny:

and, 1 month:

…And we were so busy having fun for two weeks, that we didn’t take very many pictures! But, grandma was a great help in transitioning Ian back to work after his paternity leave, and Carrie, Macs and Emme into their programs around town. Macs played hard with grandma, running her all over the house, cooking for her, reading to her, and telling her what to do. Emme had a blast snuggling with grandma.
Emmerson and Grandma having a rest:

The only photos we were really able to get of Macallister and his Grandma were of them reading, which he loves to do before bed:

and in the middle of the day:

Macallister and mommy had their first popsicles of the year, when we had a great day of short weather (but no shorts that fit, so Macs had to wear jammies).

And, we had to also climb the rock pile:

Emmerson celebrated her 2 week birthday by swinging by the doctor’s office to get a check up. The little lady is growing nicely, weighing 8 pounds 3 ounces (50th percentile), measuring 21.5 inches (90th percentile) and her head is now 36.5 centimeters (50-75th). Seems our family produces long, skinny children. She is becoming much more alert, and continues to be an easy-going baby to have around.
Her 2 week photos with the bunny:

As a family, we decided to give Emmerson her first at-home bath. It was very quick and to the point, and in the end, she is clean, which is all that matters.
Here’s Emme in the water:

And Macallister supervising the whole process:

Gram came out from Oregon to meet her granddaughter, play with Macallister and spend time helping the family adjust. We had fun playing outside, reading books, snuggling, exploring, and playing in the snow. It was wonderful for the parents to have an extra set of hands, for Emmerson to have an extra person to snuggle, and Macs to have a willing adult to boss around.

Here are a few photos of Emmerson in her nursery at 1 week old (give a couple of days due to adjustment of having a newborn). Very few photos were taken with the bunny as it was a single parent operation. We are all adjusting well to having the little lady in our household. So far, she seems to be quite mellow and loves to be held by her big brother, nap in someone’s arms, and eat.
